About Kate Barrett

From the word go I was in my element when drawing and painting; at school it was the only subject I excelled in. Wherever I looked my mind would be thinking of making an image from the view. I still watch and create art as second nature.

Surrounded by art as a child, I had the good fortune of seeing many wonderful exhibitions and pretty things. My mother was an haute couturiere who designed tailor-made dresses for the Elite. My Aunt was a fine watercolour artist who painted exquisite daisy flowers. My father was an architect and design friend. I always yearned to be a great artist and live by painting.

Saint-Tropez was a great source of inspiration with the beautiful sights and colours that I would paint from very young and still do today. People’s pets became a thing for me to paint as it made them so happy- the owners not the pets that is. More recently, I have been interested in upscaling the size of my work and trying new abstract styles as seen in Blue Heart, Emily in the Lake and Climate Change.

Approaching retirement from teaching art to small children, I want to finally open up a new future as a full time artist, sell and merchandise my work. I would love to design textiles, wallpaper, illustrate books and paint beautiful pictures all day long.

Draw, paint, love is my Moto.
